Another recipe to love, another dog to giggle at, beautiful words tying it all together. Thanks, Lindsay.

A really enjoyable, sensual read. So many vivid feelings - being bombarded by ice crystals!!, the fragrance and warmth and colour of roasted cabbage and apple and onion and spices!, the shards of glass, the beauty of watercolour and ink. Much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Ah, acid! I did not know this trick and will be glad to try it. The recipe looks delicious! What brings me the most joy, though, is the story of Dottie and the settee. We inherited a hefty, russet-colored, leather chair from my parents - once my father's favorite - and our late cat, Tucker, took great pleasure in clawing at the cambric, to the point that we recently removed the shredded mess altogether. He was a stinker, and I miss him so much! Thanks for sharing part of your week with us, Lindsay.

These pets really reveal the underbelly of things 😂 I am also happy to learn the word cambric - after writing this essay I was listening to a Poirot mystery, and of course he described a a maid's apron as 'cambric.' Such a good word. Thanks for the note! x
