I composted the tired evergreen boughs in my window boxes today. There were acorn squashes in there too, repurposed from my Halloween spread. I pulled out the boughs of cedar and pine, then the sodden squashes, long sunken and engulfed by the evergreens. The bodies separated from their stems, soft and broken. But when they were vibrant they were a highlight through the winter. So unexpected.
What a beautiful post. I now find myself wanting to listen to some Sarah McLachlan and get back to my college self 😆Thank you so much for sharing the SLP episode! @Kern Carter is indeed a burst of inspiration for unexpected takes on building your life as a writer. ✨
Unexpected.. A Handful of Dust. Read at 15 and again now. Forgetting and then remembering how unexpected the heartbreaking ending was.
Finding solace in Camomile Tea with newly made above Cashew nut milk (smooth and delicious, unexpected) , whilst lighting a candle at a table with forced forsythia, reading Dr. Zhivago.
Love seeing and appreciating the unexpected. Suddenly, a quiet joy 🩷

Being a Waugh, I collected most of his works, drawn to melancholy and acid wit. His bitter satires are refreshing.
Brideshead Revisited, Vile Bodies, Decline and Fall, Handful of Dust etc etc.. interesting reads😊
