Lyndsie I nearly feel off my perch when I saw this newsletter. You and your dad have brought me untold joy. How can I time travel and be there with you all right now.
My parents read this comment and said they wish you were here too. Bev would tell you that she does not want a new swim suit for her Aug 3rd birthday as planned by her daughters, she wants us to give her a subscription to Galah! Note an upcoming spike in Nova Scotian subscribers. xo
A lovely story well-told by your dad. I love opals and I agree, Galah is a good mag.
Opal is my birthstone - my favourite is the milky opal, especially if it has good fire. I had an opal ring that was given to me by a boyfriend (later fiancee). But like the relationship, the ring went.
Once the engagement was done, I sold everything he had given me (including the engagement ring which was a sapphire) because hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and it funded a fantastic trip to Asia! Maybe I should write a post on it!
I've told my dad your opal tale - he quoted 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' just as I said it :) And of course we both want you to write a post on it! xo
Lindsay -- and Ian -- this was such a fun read. Of course, I have the connection to NSW via my daughter, who has lived in Sydney since February 2022. I've just passed along a link to the GALAH website to make sure she and those in her circles are familiar with what looks to be a stunning publication. I treasure an opal ring that was my mother's and came from Australia. And, as it happens, I have a load of peaches in my house right now and am wishing I had gochugaru to add. I suppose red chili flakes would do in a pinch, but I'll be looking for a reliable US source for it. I know just the person to ask! 🍑🌶️😋
Love these newsletters.. your dad’s story telling to your mom, while she was recovering, was lovely. I have mom’s blue opal ring, a gift from dad. I’ve loved it from when I was a young child, the fire is magical
ah the fire of an opal, i love that! my friend Karen has a collection of opals from her grandmother (it's her birthstone) and recently had them all mounted together on a pendant. they all hold so many stories. xoxo

Annabelle, wow! Do you ever sleep!? 😊
A little fun fact, the galah is also a slang word used for someone of larrikin type character.
I had to look up larrikin 😂 and this came up: a boisterous, often badly behaved young man.
"James was something of a larrikin". I'm married to a James, wait till he hears!
Oh wow so larrikin is ours too? lol no wonder tourists find us so confusing.

Thank your father for an enjoyable tale.

Next week, Lindsay!

I'm sure a little sprinkle of anything hot, like powdery cayenne would work just fine. there's no time to wait when peaches are ready!
I hope your daughter finds Galah, if anything to take a copy or two home to you. you'd love it! x

I love getting your stories in my in box on Saturday morning. Such a wonderful way to start the weekend.
And on this particular day, led me down a rabbit hole that took me to Galah's article called House Music. Sublime.
thank you Nancie! I will look for House Music, I love a sublime story!
A lovely read. Us Aussies are all getting in first. 😃 Have a lovely day. 🤗🤗
My mom's friend came to visit today wearing a colourful dress she bought in Australia in honour of the post. Aussie's are having a moment. xo
